Jim Carson holds a BFA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.  He has worked in the field of design since 1987, adding to years of experience as a freelance illustrator. Jim has served a variety of clients from editorial, corporate, advertising, publishing and institutional fields, and his accumulated design experience is culled from a wide range of projects. Working for clients including WBUR, Rounder Records, and the Capitol Steps, Jim has developed expertise in the many elements of communications, promotion, newsletter, packaging, and
web site design.
Jim also has been an instructor at the Art Institute of Boston, Massachusetts College of Art, R.I.S.D., Gordon College, Syracuse University, and the University of Hartford. He has lectured at Graphic Artist Guild Conferences and several other design forums, as well. His widely demanded business course for graphic artists was singled out in the Art Institute of Boston’s alumni magazine saying “most art colleges do not offer any course that compares.” The combination of design practice and teaching has given him a large and varied network of contacts in the field and rich business insights that he brings to every job.
